COORDINATOR: Dr. Ceren Gürkan

Dr. Gürkan received her BSc degree in Civil Engineering from Middle East Technical University as an honor student in 2011. 

She then joined in the year 2011 the double degree Erasmus Mundus Computational Mechanics MSc program with a full scholarship and studied in both Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (UPC-Home Institution) and Swansea University (Host Institution). She graduated in the year 2013 with distinction with an MSc thesis entitled Computational Aerodynamic Design Optimization Using Reduced Order Modeling for Large Deformation Problems supervised by Dr. Ben Evans. 

Between 2013-2017 she pursued Ph.D. studies under double degree Erasmus Mundus Computational Mechanics program with a full scholarship. She studied at Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya (UPC-Home Institution) and Technical University of Munich (TUM-Host Institution) under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Sonia Fernandez Mendez and Asst. Prof. Martin Kronbichler. Her Ph.D. thesis titled Extended Hybridizable Discontinuous Galerkin (X-HDG) method was awarded Excellent Cum Laude distinction.

 Between 2017-2019 she worked with Dr. Andre Massing at Umea University as a post-doctoral researcher. 

Starting from 2019 up until now, she works as an Asst. Prof. at Kadir Has University Civil Engineering Department and leading the NumSim Lab starting from November 2021.

PhD. in Applied Mechanics from Indian Institute of Technology-Delhi (IIT-D). Thesis Title: A Numerical Study of Flow Dynamics in the Starting Phases of Subsonic and Supersonic Round Jets.

MSc. in Thermal-Sciences from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) with CGPA of 8.7 in 2013 .

BSc. in Mechanical Engineering from Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) with CGPA of 8.4 in 2011.
